Bursaries
The Leading reform Summit 2022 will include a bursary program to reimburse travel and accommodation costs for delegates in non-government organisations coming from regional, rural and remote areas of Queensland.
Eligibility
Bursaries will be considered to support people who:
- reside in Queensland
- do not have access to other means to support their attendance at the Summit
- are not employed by organisations where that organisation could reasonably be expected to pay for their attendance and associated travel and accommodation costs.
Priority consideration will be given to people who:
- will communicate and share their experiences and learnings from the Summit with others
- demonstrate they are part of the lived experience workforce or a relevant lived experience or community group or network
- are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
- are from a culturally or linguistically diverse background
- will gain an individual / personal opportunity to develop their knowledge, skills and networks
- work for non-government organisations.
Final approval of bursary support remains with the Commission.
Included expenses
Bursaries may cover the following expenses:
- return travel (e.g. long distance bus, long distance train or flights)
- accommodation (bed and breakfast) to a maximum of $201 per night or actual expense for the Grand Chancellor Hotel Brisbane. Stays in private accommodation can not be reimbursed (e.g. staying with relatives, friends, camping, etc.)
- mileage and car parking for travel by private car or motorcycle (cars at 37.5 cents per kilometre; motorcycles at 15.0 cents per kilometre). Car parking at $15 per day (or $20 overnight at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Brisbane)
- taxi, shuttle, bus or train fares (excluding ride share expenses such as Uber, Taxify, Ola and others).
Excluded expenses
- Breakfast expenses are excluded unless the accommodation cost includes bed and breakfast
- Lunch and dinner expenses are excluded
- Private accommodation (e.g. staying with relatives, friends, camping, etc.)
- Ride share expenses (such as Uber, Taxify, Ola and others).
Bursary recipients are responsible for having their own insurances in place, for example, travel insurance, car insurance, etc. The Commission will not check for insurances or be responsible for any loses associated with the bursary or attending the event.
Payment of bursaries
Bursaries will be paid in two parts as follows:
- the Commission will book and pay for return travel and accommodation on behalf of bursary recipients (subject to availability of preferred flights or accommodation)
- the Commission will reimburse mileage, car parking and fare expenses to the bursary recipient on the provision of documentation after the event.
Documentation
At the conclusion of the journey, the bursary recipient is required to certify that the travel and accommodation was undertaken in accordance with the approved itinerary and the specified events were attended.
Before an expense is reimbursed, the bursary recipient will be required to produce documentary evidence
of expenses, such as receipts, itemised statements, certifications, etc.
Closing date
Applications for bursaries close at 5.00pm on Thursday 20 October 2022.
Applicants will be notified of application outcomes by 5.00pm on Monday 24 October 2022.
