Day 1: Opening addresses 

This session featured:

  • Opening address from the Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services and Minister for Women - The Hon. Shannon Fentiman.
  • Commissioner address from the Queensland Mental Health Commissioner, Ivan Frkovic on Leading Reform in Queensland.
  • Lived experience and carer address from NMHCCF Queensland Representatives, Jordan Frith and Cindy Heddle.

Day 1: Stigma and implementing reform session 

This session featured:

  • Speaker address from Professor Sir Graham Thornicroft, Professor of Community Psychiatry Kings College London on Ending stigma and discrimination in mental health.
  • Speaker address (and Q&A) from Professor Harvey Whiteford, Professor of Psychiatry and Population Mental Health University of Queensland on The challenge of implementation. 
  • Panel session on Policy implementation challenges and priorities for Queensland, featuring A/Professor John Allan (Queensland Health), Jennifer Black (CEO QAMH), Emma Kill (CEO QuiVAA), Jorgen Gullestrup (CEO MHLEPQ), Irene Clelland (CEO Arafmi), Bronwen Edwards (CEO RITO). 

Day 1: Collective action and joint responsibility

This session featured:

  • Speaker address from Professor Cindy Shannon AM, Deputy Vice Chancellor - Griffith University and Chair - Queensland Mental Health and Drug Advisory Council on The Path to Truth, Healing and Treaty in Queensland.
  • Speaker address from Shannan Dodson, Chief Executive Officer - The Healing Foundation on Leading Healing our Way: The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Strategy 2020-2040.
  • Panel session on Truth Treaty, and healing in practice - What does collective action look like?, featuring Professor Cindy Shannon, Shannan Dodson and Candice Butler (Director, Centre of Excellence QATSICPP). 

Day 1: Collective action and joint responsibility 

This session featured:

  • Speaker address from Dr Erin Lalor, Chief Executive Officer - Alcohol and Drug Foundation on Unit-based pricing for alcohol. 
  • Speaker address from Margo Watson, A/Inspector, Drug and Alcohol Coordination Unit - Queensland Police Service and Helen Taylor, Director, Alcohol and Other Drug Strategy - Queensland Health on Implementing drug diversion in Queensland. 
  • Panel session on Key harm reduction initiatives for Queensland, featuring Dr Erin Lalor, Margo Watson, Helen Taylor, Bec Lang (QNADA) and Emma Kill (QuIVAA).

Day 2: Prevention and getting in early

This session featured:

  • Speaker address from Professor John Buchanan, University of Sydney on Mental wealth.
  • Speaker address from Kiri Richards, Associate Deputy Director-General Mental Health and Addiction System Performance and Monitoring - Ministry of Health NZ on New Zealand’s mental wellbeing strategy (Kia Manawanui Aotearoa) and its implementation.
  • Speaker address from Michael Hogan, Convenor - TQKP on the Thriving Queensland Kids Partnership.
  • Panel session with all three speakers.

Day 2: Community-based and community-led

This session featured:

  • Speaker address from Professor Patrick McGorry, Executive Director - Orygen on The future of community psychiatry and community mental health services.
  • Speaker address from Abbe Anderson, National Director - Commissioning Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) and Aroha Metcalf, General Manager Oranga Hinengaro - Te Aka Whai Ora (Māori Health Authority) on New Zealand's approach to community based mental health service delivery.
  • Speaker address from Marnie Wuele, Executive Manager Service Delivery - Thirrili and Chenoa Dowling, Regional Coordinator for Queensland and Northern Territory - Thirrili on Principles and approach to community-led suicide prevention. 
  • Panel session with all session speakers and Jennifer Black, CEO - Queensland Alliance of Mental Health.

Day 2: Social determinants

This session featured:

  • Speaker address from Greg Jennings, Chief Engagement Officer - beyondblue on How can we protect people's mental health during cost-of-living pressures?
  • Speaker address from Dr Adam Skinner, Brand and Mind Centre - University of Sydney on Unemployment and underemployment: significant drivers of suicide.
  • Speaker address from Dr Nicola Brackertz, Senior Manager - AHURI Professional Services on The interplay between housing and mental health. 
  • Panel session on Addressing Queensland's current socio-economic circumstances with all session speakers and Karyn Walsh, CEO - Micah Projects and Neil Willmett, CEO - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Queensland.

Day 2: Improving our responses to trauma and closing remarks

This session featured:

  • Panel session on Improving our responses to trauma with Professor David Forbes, Director - Phoenix Australia, Dr Lucy Grummitt, The Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use, Dr Elizabeth Hoehn, Medical Director - Queensland Centre for Perinatal Infant Health, Nieves Murray, CEO - Suicide Prevention Australia and Vivianne Kissane, CEO - Peach Tree Perinatal Wellness.
